Australian manufacturer Sebel have supplied the premium seating for the Green Point Stadium in Capetown South Africa – where eight FIFA World Cup matches are to be played, including the semi-finals.
The company’s experience with large scale stadium projects around the world, including seating for the new Lansdowne Road stadium in Dublin, Cardiff Football Stadium in Wales and ANZ Stadium in Sydney, made Sebel a key contender for Green Point’s seating contract.
Sebel invested more than $2 million over a three year period in the design and delivery of the Podium seating.
It was recognised by industry design experts as the most versatile stadium seating system at the time of its development.
The Podium is the world’s first true beam mounted stadium seat, and is made from 100 percent recyclable polypropylene. It is fully UV treated to ensure maximum durability and weather resistance.
The purpose built $600 million Green Point Stadium complex was designed to be an all-weather sports and entertainment venue.
