Fly Forbo Award Entries Now Open

The prestigious Fly Forbo Award 2012, with its alluring international prize, is now open for entries.

The competition is free to enter, with a downloadable entry form available at the Forbo Flooring website.

The Fly Forbo Award seeks a winning project from each of Australia and New Zealand that shows stand-out use of any of the Forbo flooring and surface products.

Closing date for entries is Friday 13 April 2012.

2011's 2 sets of winners have just returned from their prize trip to 100% Design in London, the Forbo design studios in Holland and from a tour of inspiring European installations.

Forbo products include natural and sustainable, technically advanced linoleums for floor and furnishings, safety and project vinyls, wetroom solutions and entrance systems. World-leading brands include Marmoleum, Artoleum, Bulletin Board, Furniture Linoleum, Flotex, Allura, Eternal, Step and Smaragd.

Dulux Colour Awards 2012 - Entry Open

Architects, designers, specifiers and students are invited to submit their entries to the 2012 Dulux Colour Awards.

Now in its 26th year, the Dulux Colour Awards celebrate the exceptional and inspired use of colour in architecture and interior design. Previous winners include projects from Carr Design, McBride Charles Ryan, HASSELL and the 2011 Grand Prix winner Elenberg Fraser.

"Colour is a fundamental piece in the design puzzle, and this year we're encouraging professionals and students to push the envelope even further and explore new avenues and expressions of colour," said Dulux Colour Planning and Communication Manager, Andrea Lucena-Orr.

The 2012 Dulux Colour Awards are expanding from 6 to 8 categories, with the previous Residential Interior and Exterior Awards divided into 4 new categories: Single Residential Interior, Multi Residential Interior, Single Residential Exterior and Multi Residential Exterior.

These will join the existing Commercial Exterior, Commercial Interior, Sustainable Interior and Student categories.

Each category winner will receive AU$1500 in prize money and a trophy. All entries will also go in the running for the Grand Prix award, receiving AU$2,000, a trophy and a trip to an international design fair.

Entries to the 2012 Dulux Colour Awards are open now until 10 February 2012. Finalists will be announced on 27 February 2012, with the winners announced at a gala event on 28 March 2012.

Greening Cities Conference 2011

Green Roofs Australasia, supported by the City of Sydney, present the Greening Cities Conference - the 5th event of its kind, to take place at Sydney's Australian National Maritime Museum from 9 to 12 November.

International and local speakers will discuss the greening of our cities by planting on roofs and walls - a rapidly developing field still relatively new to Australia.

After 4 years of exploration into the encounter with the world at human scale, graduating students of Monash Interior Architecture are proud to present MIA 11.

The work presented at this year's graduation show is the result of a year-long investigation into the experiential, phenomenological and functional dimensions of interior space.

Projects cover areas of cultural institutional, commercial and domestic architectural space.

The exhibition is not just a celebration of the final work of Monash Interior Architecture's graduating students, but also of the process it took to get there.

The exhibition opens on Friday 11 November at 6pm at Melbourne's Goodtime Gallery, Basement, 746 Swanston Street, Carlton.

Colour Workshops at Moore Park Supa Centa

After Images: Imprints of Japan by Australian Architects is an exhibition and auction in support of Japan's recovery from the March disasters, presented by the University of Sydney, Australian Institute of Architects, Sydney Architecture Festival and Emergency Architects Australia.

The exhibition includes sketches by Richard Leplastrier, Peter Stutchbury, Sean Godsell, Tom Heneghan, John Wardle, Tadao Ando and other celebrated architects.

The opening and silent auction takes place on Friday 28 October at 6pm, with bids closing at 7:30pm. The exhibition runs until 29 October at Boutwell Draper Gallery, 82-84 George Street, Redfern.

City Talks 2011: The Art of City Making

Challenge the way you think about cities with "The Art of City Making: How Imagination and Creativity Play Their Part" as part of the City of Sydney's CityTalks 2011.

This live discussion will feature guest speaker Charles Landry, an urbanist and passionate defender of the role imagination and creativity plays in developing cities and invigorating local economies.

A panel discussion from some of our leading creative thinkers will then explore how we can unlock and marshal Sydney's creative energy.

Panel members are Dr James Bradfield Moody, Executive Director, Development, CSIRO; Jess Scully, Director, Creative Sydney; Emile Sherman, Producer, See-Saw Films; Roderick Simpson, Associate Professor in Urban Design, University of Sydney and Principal, Simpson+Wilson Architecture+Urban Design; and Dr Rodney Tolley, Conference Director, Walk 21.

Adam Spencer will lead the evening as MC, and Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP will present the keynote address.
