The City Design Awards project, created in partnership with the Design Institute of Australia (DIA), is set to launch in Melbourne this spring, with New York, Paris, Stockholm and Beijing to follow.
Entries to the Awards are open to all, though each City award event will celebrate the unique design culture and identity of the city in which it is held.
A celebration of innovative designers – the awards will honour a broad range of creative work from products and furnishings to architecture, interiors, landscape design, graphic design, fashion, photography and digital design.
The City Design Awards also aim to promote and encourage participation and conversation in all aspects of design through online voting and interaction.
A panel of experts from the host city will produce a longlist, then online voting will open to both the public and design industry peers.
The Melbourne Design Awards are an initiative of A Thinking Company, in association with the Design Institute of Australia.
The awards will officially launch on Friday 10 September.
