December 5th, 2014
MPavilion is a unique architecture commission and design event for Melbourne, initiated by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation with support from City of Melbourne and the Victorian State Government.
Naomi Milgrom, AO, Chair of the Naomi Milgrom Foundation said she was delighted to have a leading design brand on board.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Laminex as a corporate partner in MPavilion’s inaugural year,” said Naomi. “Laminex’s enthusiasm and support for the project has been wonderful. It has meant that we have been able to fulfil our vision to create Sean Godsell’s beautifully designed furniture for this year’s MPavilion. The creativity, dedication, and commitment from a range of supporters allows truly inspirational design and architecture projects like the MPavilion to come to life.”
The 2014 MPavilion has been designed by award-winning Melbourne architect, Sean Godsell, and was inspired by the annual Serpentine Gallery in London’s Hyde Park. The pavilion design uses recycled wooden flooring, galvanised steel and aluminium
Laminex Freestyle Curve Winter White was selected for use on kiosk joinery and benches within the garden pavilion structure, and was also used to create 50 limited edition MPavilion Chairs, designed by Sean Godsell.
“At Laminex, we are passionate about architecture and celebrating inspirational design,” said Laminex General Marketing Manager George Bej. “Partnering with MPavilion demonstrates our commitment to the design community.”
As part of the four month program, the MPavilion will host a series of free seminars, workshops, performances and installations for architects, specifiers, designers and the general public to attend.
“We are delighted to be a corporate partner of this unique initiative that provides Melbourne’s art and design community access to a network of free cultural and educational programs,” said George.
The MPavilion will be open to the public until 1 February 2015.
