From the other side of the Southern Hemisphere, we’re joined by Weylandts in their recently opened showroom – their first store outside the African continent. Founded in Windhoek, Namibia, Weylandts is a world-class retailer of contemporary furniture and homewares from all around the world. Today, they’re well-established as the leading furniture and décor retailer in southern Africa. Expect rarities, expect authenticity, and expect the unexpected.

Closer to home, Melbourne’s own Lump Sculpture Design Studio has quietly established itself as one of Australia’s premier design and production studios for contemporary art and outdoor sculpture. Their original designs reflect their sense of artistic purpose. For Melbourne Indesign, they’ll be launching new sculptural work and a range of large-scale outdoor planters in an animated, highly decorated laneway at Temperature Design. Having specialised in large and small, private and public, and having many architecture and design collaborations under their belt, come see what Lump Sculpture Studio is capable of.

Crossing the Tasman, see great new furniture from New Zealand at District246, as well as the best of Australian and European brands. District246 was launched just last year and have been making a name for themselves supplying contemporary designer furniture, indoor and outdoor, as well as lighting and rugs. They cover all of the corporate, commercial, hospitality, retail, building and residential markets, so be sure to see what’s new from these movers and shakers on event day.

From the other side of the Pacific, Apato has brings us ancient Japanese woodcraft made for the modern era. Some of their brands have rarely been seen outside Japan before, yet within Japan, they are well-respected, long-established design houses – Maruni, Dan Project, Miyazaki Chair Factory, Ishinomaki Laboratory and more. Keep an eye out for Oak Village, whose complex joinery systems date back over 1,300 years; international up-and-comers Nissin Furniture Crafters, and the Cobrina range by Torafu architects for Hida Sangyo (below).
