Not only is it saving us money, flat packing also making the most of our local resources and saving our environment as well.

Until recently, putting together a piece of flat-packed furniture was not for the faint-hearted. But all that’s about to change for good – flat-packed furniture is now expanding to include more and more suppliers and products, with designers and manufacturers all cottoning on to its undeniable benefits.

Not only is flat-packed furniture cost effective, but it can also be shipped around the world in less than half the time, generally comes with easy to follow assembly instructions and dare I say; is fun to put together.

When designing the now celebrated Zaishu stool, Matthew Butler’s focus was on how the end product would come together, in its simplest form, “It was about rationalising a design down to its basic form,” says Matthew, “I wanted to reduce the number of parts, types of materials and the production process to a minimum.”

The Zaishu stool is made up of five pieces and can be delivered straight to your doorstep in days, cutting out lengthy and frustrating lead times.
