Winner of the Di Stasio Ideas Competition

The search for the best design for the new Australian Pavilion, as part of the Venice Biennale, has been won by an Italian!

The winner of the professional section of the Di Stasio Ideas competition was announced on the 29th July at the Heide Museum in Melbourne. The winner is Davide Marchetti – an Italian Architect based in Rome.

The panel selected Marchetti as the overall winner based on the sensitivity and sophistication of his grand idea for the new Australian Pavillion (for this years Venice Biennale).

Using the Southern Cross as a design compass, Marchetti has opened up his building with pixilated light.

 

On the caliber of entries: “The international architectural community has responded to the Di Stasio Ideas Competition brief with deep respect, and this is evident it the professional time and quality of the submissions”, Judge Norman Day concluded.
