Atlantic Restaurant by Blackmilk

A new restaurant in Melbourne’s Crown Casino complex is the work of interior design firm Blackmilk.

Melbourne-based firm Blackmilk were enlisted to create the interiors for a brand-new 300 seat seafood restaurant within Melbourne's Crown Casino precinct.

Occupying the space of 2 former eateries, the new concept restaurant needed to be intimate yet flexible, offering unique and unexpected dining experiences.

Blackmilk were inspired both by the idea of an 1800s New York fish market, and by Melbourne's renowned bluestone laneways and cafés, reminiscent of New York's Meatpacking District.

Guests are greeted with an oyster lounge upon entry, then continue on to the casual dining spaces in a glass atrium and private and semi-private dining rooms.

Weathered timbers, bluestone, vintage etchings and Persian-inspired carpets by Rugs Carpet and Design lend warmth and intimacy to the space.

Timber screens are contrasted by glass panelling for a mix of the warm and familiar, and the contemporary.

Lighting is a key feature of the design, creating a range of atmospheres throughout the day, whereas the fixtures themselves are a stylish feature.

In the restaurant's basement is The Den, a hark back to the turn of the century with its bookcases, velvet sofas and heirlooms, creating an eclectic space that is rich with memories.
