North Sydney’s ’next generation office’ claims top honours at the MBA Awards.
December 2nd, 2010
North Sydney’s iconic Ark, designed by Rice Daubney and built by Thiess, has added two more high-profile accolades to its growing list at the Master Builders Association (MBA) NSW Excellence in Building and Construction Awards.
The Ark took out the awards for Best Use of Glass and Excellence in Energy Efficiency.
Judges commended the Ark for building a relationship with surrounding heritage buildings in reflection and form. A wall of glass and zinc reflects the frontage on the opposing street, mirroring and incorporating the building’s surroundings.
Judges also recognised the Ark as a world leader in terms of design, efficiency, functionality and sustainability. The Ark is the first completed 6 Star Green Star V2 design rated high-rise commercial building in New South Wales.
This 28 500 square metre, 21 floor commercial office space picked up the top honour for Development of the Year at the Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards and the Dexus Property Group Environmental Development Award earlier in the year.
