Mondopiero is the culmination of a lifetime of passions for Piero Gesualdi and is a celebration of all things handsome.
February 4th, 2016
A 400sqm space in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy now serves as the home of Mondopiero, an emporium showcasing an indescribable sense of style – a celebration of a way of seeing the world through a curated gathering of objects.
Serving as both a café and a shop for both functional and decorative items defining an attitude to style, Mondopiero is the latest creation from Piero Gesualdi, and is the next step in his long winding journey of art, style, design and creation.
Piero Gesualdi’s move from architecture into fashion in the mid 1970s was as much of a win for fashion as it was a loss for architectural design. This mesh between the two worlds, and more, is a welcome step forward for the designer and curator of taste.
Mondopiero follows Gesualdi’s Rosati in Flinders Lane, Melbourne, which became a celebrated food and drink destination with a striking architectural and conceptual footprint serving as a dining establishment the likes of which is rarely seen in Australia.
Ultimately, the new concept store is dedicated to an appreciation of things handsome and unique, beautiful and striking. The café sits alongside a curated collection of homewares, furniture, fashion, art and beauty products, sourced from the world over.
