You may have heard the buzz that Indesign Publishing is launching a new cross-cultural magazine that explores the design decisions people make and their way of life

Get Ready for Habitus – Premiere issue coming soon!

Well, the rumours are true. The premiere issue of Habitus will be launched later this year and will take its place next to our other flagship titles, Indesign and DQ. Habitus scopes Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia for all the most inspired ideas, houses, places, people and products for its reader, the ‘design hunter’.

Habitus readers are what we have coined the ‘design hunters’ of our region. They are savvy self-specifiers, responsible for driving design awareness in the consumer market. Design hunters express themselves through the products and services that they buy. They love finding out about good design, and surround themselves with design products and also influence others to do the same.

Habitus is an innovative, fresh approach to the way a magazine celebrates way of life, the environments people make for themselves and the design decisions they make.

The name Habitus probably says it all… think habits, habitat, inhabit, habitants. But for the really curious it is a term made famous by the French sociologist, Pierre Bourdieu who used it to describe all the things – big and small – which go to make up a culture. So, Habitus the magazine is not about lifestyle, but about way of life and how the design decisions express who they are.
