Luxury European-inspired dessert boutique Bibelot is set to grace the streets – and taste buds – of South Melbourne.
May 19th, 2015
Based at the Coventry Street entrance to Chez Dré, Bibelot serves as an opulent destination for all things sweet – an artisanal patisserie, gelateria, coffee bar, chocolate shop and high tea salon are complemented by library of coffee table books.
Presented by the same creative team behind Chez Dré, Bibelot houses a retail space of beautifully packaged and crafted gourmet gifts. Chocolate bars, enrobed fruit and nuts, decadent biscuits, locally sourced honey and specialty coffee and teas are all available in the immaculate store. Alternatively, one may be inclined to browse the Bibelot library, solely dedicated to hard-to-find, professional chocolate and patisserie books. From Thursday through to Sunday, Bibelot hosts a High Tea Salon, a lavish afternoon tea event, complete with gourmet sweet and savory treats along with tea, coffee and champagne, by reservation only beginning in early June.
In homage to iconic French patisserie roots, Bibelot focuses on combining high quality ingredients and delicate flavours with artisanship and attention to detail. With a wide range of petits gâteaux, bonbons, macarons and delicate biscuits, there is sure to be a treat to satisfy every sweet tooth.
Space designers, Melbourne’s Breathe Architecture, has stayed true to Bibelot’s European roots, crafting a space that boasts an elaborate interior of custom mosaics with art deco influences. From the beautifully crafted recycled timber floors, to the large scale custom designed mosaic wall feature by Fabian Scaunich from Mosaic Republic, every detail of the fit out is representative of the brand ethos – intricacy, opulence and carefully handcrafted creations.
Each product display case has been custom designed for the space, and hand crafted in Italy, by Isa. Plush emerald green upholstered banquette seating and armchairs create a decadent High Tea Salon.
Bibelot is the perfect addition to the food scene and boutique streetscape of South Melbourne, providing the taste of classic French patisserie, with a quintessentially Melbourne flair.
