Diamant for Canberra

Part of Eight Hotels Australia and sister to the Diamant Sydney, the new Canberra hotel is at the heart of the NewAction precinct $300m redevelopment.

The heritage-listed building has been given a $60m facelift. International architectural firm Fender Katsalidis have sensitively blended restored heritage features with a stunning modern industrial foyer.

SJB Interiors have created 3 distinct design schemes for the 80 rooms, from 1960’s inspired wallpapers and black velvet curtains to period style rooms with wallpaper in French ‘blue/grey’. Guests will find their rooms fitted with high-end equipment like Bang & Olufsen televisions, fast speed internet access and the latest in security.

The hotel has an extensive collection of art in guest rooms and public spaces are adorned with sculptures, installations and contemporary and indigenous paintings. The foyer features design pieces such as Corallo armchairs by Campana Brothers, Tai Ping rugs and Italian-made Flos cocoon light fittings.
