The Australian design duo continues to impress on the world stage with their fitout for accessories brand Crumpler.
February 14th, 2012
The project that garnered them so much attention in 2011 has now won Australian designers Ryan Russell and Byron George 2 prestigious World Retail Awards at the 2012 International Store Design Awards in New York.
Russell & George’s Crumpler store at Melbourne’s Doncaster was named Winner in the Soft Line Specialty Store category, as well as taking out the Special Award for the Innovation Materiality category.
“Crumpler Doncaster aims to reinvent the notion of a traditional retail interior, with the store and its display fixtures essentially built from the materials of the high quality bags it sells,” said Russell of the project.
“The Retail Design Institute’s international recognition of the Doncaster Crumpler project is a tribute not only to our design team, but also Crumpler’s ethos of doing everything better.”
Russell & George’s design for the Crumpler Doncaster store featured webbing from bag straps, rubber lining and powder-coated steel – all used in Crumpler products – as part of the space, creating a connection between the shop, the brand and its products.
