Renowned designer and architect, Patricia Urquiola, joined the team at Mutina to produce ‘Dechirer’, a range of tiles allowing pedestrians to embrace history with every passing step.

Dechirer is Urqiuola’s first project involving tiles, and it was with this understanding that Mutina allowed her complete freedom to interpret ceramics in her own style and arrive at this innovative concept.

It was with this liberty that Urquiloa set out to create an industrial product which reflected a personality, a tile to represent a layering of the stories etched into the annals of history.

In her own words, incorporating “Bas-reliefs of different heights which are not so much decorations as the remains of torn away memories.”

Adding further intrigue to the collection, Urquiola and Mutina work together to alternate plain and decorated patterns, complete with patchwork pieces and clean lines to cleverly offer the perception of a singular continuous surface.

Utilizing the latest in CONTINUA technology, the Dechirer range is built to supercede international standards for heavy traffic areas, and although created from ceramic materials, is inspired by the traditional nature and consistency of cement.

Dechirer is available in five versatile colours and two textures, adding a mark of subtle sophistication to any space. Sizes available include 600 x 600mm, 600 x 1200mm, 1200 x 1200mm and striking large hexagon formats.

Available in Australia through Academy Tiles.
