With a passion for innovative, beautiful design and exquisitely crafted pieces, SeehoSu caters for contract and consumer clientele with a carefully selected designer portfolio that includes globally renowned Japanese brand Maruni and contemporary Chinese design studio Neri & Hu – to name just two.

“The commonly held perception of Asian ‘designer’ furniture in particular is that it is non-original and replicated from European furniture, or that it is antique,” says SeehoSu director Joyce Seeho. “We really set out to break this myth, and prove that some of the world’s best design talents are located in Asia.”

Complementing SeehoSu’s range of Maruni and Neri & Hu products is Mud Australia, whose porcelain wares can be found in the kitchen of Nigella Lawson and dining rooms of Momofuku, as well as the distinctive Canadian design studio, Molo Design.

With the recent opening of its new Sydney-based retail space, Studio SeehoSu, SeehoSu now offers local architects and designers direct access to “some of the most exquisite contemporary furniture and accessories on the market,” says Seeho. More gallery than showroom, Studio SeehoSu is designed to be both a resource and a retreat for customers.

The result of a collaborative effort between SeehoSu and interior designer Thomas Butler, the Studio features a seamless, pared-back fit-out, creating a “super flexible space that really complements [SeehoSu’s] product range,” says Butler.

He says the base building provided a “great shell”, with polished concrete floors and a white ceiling and walls. “It made realising the gallery space much easier,” he says.

Key fit-out elements include a simply detailed black-stained display wall, and a multi-purpose plinth for showcasing chairs – and taking a seat. “With such beautiful furniture you don’t need an extravagantly designed space,” says Butler.
