Since their establishment in Michigan in 1912, the company has been focused on unlocking the potential of users within their work environment, by studying how people work, to fully understand the everchanging needs of individuals, teams and organisations around the world. This knowledge is then combined with the Steelcase portfolio of products, services and technology to create inspiring and user centred workplaces. Steelcase is renowned for its research and development process, since the company’s first patent in 1914 for a metal wastebasket to the development of environmentally sensitive products like the Think Chair. Steelcase today, is an international company with manufacturing facilities in over 30 countries and 800 distribution networks worldwide.
