Staron® Solid Surfaces by Samsung has been used in the new Stuart Weitzman for Hermanns fitout which has recently opened in the exclusive Westfield Sydney, in the centre of Sydney City.
December 23rd, 2010
Staron® Solid Surfaces has been used in this upscale shoe boutique as shelving. Staron® was thermoformed to create curves, and formed into a ’ribbon’ design of shelving.
This amazing ’ribbon’ design creation is a patent design by Milan based architect – Fabio Novembre of Novembre Studio Architects. The design concept was first used in European Stuart Weitzman stores and has now been rolled out to Australian fitouts.
The Sydney fitout was completed by Australian Professional Shopfitters (VIC), and the Staron® component was completed by Certified Staron® Master Fabricator Pallete Solid Surface (NSW).
The Staron® surface begins at the door of the fitout and continues up, down and around the walls of the entire store. It curves and intertwines capturing the flowing effect of a long piece of ribbon.
The flowy curves also continue onto the service counter, keeping within theme. The seamless nature of Staron® Solid Surfaces also means that the surface continues around the entire store with no joins, just one piece of constant material.
The shelving lines the walls of the store, as well as additional art-like pieces in the centre, showing off the high end merchandise.
This project pushes the boundaries of design into a unique and original concept.
The unique seamless and thermoformable features of Staron® Solid Surfaces make it the perfect surface solution for this application that not many other surfaces could meet the criteria for. The non-porous nature of Staron® will also ensure that it looks great for years to come in this high traffic retail installation.
