Screenwood: An Acoustic and Architectural Solution

Recently, Screenwood’s Ceiling Panels were applied in the Chancellery Office fitout at Deakin University Waterfront Campus at Geelong. Western red cedar panels were chosen with a tinted coating, complementing the subdued colour palette and natural finishes within the space. The Screenwood ceiling also extended from the reception area through to offices and meeting rooms, assisting with the sense of visual cohesion and continuity in the space.

While the linear timber system helped to increase the visual appeal of the space, it also contributed to the acoustic amenity. Screenwood has been acoustically tested and is shown to increase sound absorption in internal spaces, due not only to the product design but also because of the addition of exclusive acoustic backings. The system incorporates a unique black acoustic scrim backing that enhances sound absorption, making it ideal for architectural acoustic installations where echo reduction is critical to the comfort and amenity of the room.

Screenwood is PEFC certified and made to order in a wide range of timbers and profiles.
