Tokujin Yoshioka, who visited Australia last year to present his Waterfall installation at the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, brings 2 new collection to the 2012 Milan Furniture Fair.

The Invisibles Light is a transparent furniture collection, developed from Yoshioka’s ’The Invisibles’ exhibition at the Kartell Gallery in 2010.

Yoshioka has developed industrial products out of his experimental work, describing the collection as “hiding its appearance to escape from this material world.”

Yoshika is also presenting his Luminous for Glas Italia, his first collaboration with the Italian manufacturer.

Luminous is a transparent table with a solid glass structure, “given its birth by light itself… as if freed from the material world, obtaining its appearance by the refraction of light [emitting] a mysterious presence.”

This new work sees Yoshioka continue his exploration of material and shape, his forms revealing themselves through an interplay of light and glass.
