Italian lighting designers Lucifero’s have taken a less is more approach to their NYX Trimless downlight.

Lucifero’s have come to market only recently with a range that is unmistakably Italian – sleek lines, beautiful detailing and quality components – and also affordable. Director of Gineico Interiors and Lucifero’s Australian supplier, Pierluigi Gambacorti says that unlike many other established imported ranges, the prices of Luifero’s light fittings are realistic. “It is really exciting to see the relief on the face of designers when they realise they can confidently specify a quality Italian range for a project and not find out later that the fittings they selected caused the budget to blow out,” he says.
Lucifero’s sleek NYX Trimless Downlight range is available in three sizes, as well as square or round diameters. A deep recess tube version that can be adjusted to a desired depth or in semi trimless is also stocked.
“The NYX is the cleanest looking trimless downlight I have ever seen. The clever way the light fitting locks into the outer collar (the part that is set into the ceiling) means the design office at Lucifero’s could reduce the overall diameter of the NYX fittings so they are smaller that every other trimless fitting on the market,” explains Pierluigi. “That is a great result because when a designer wants to use a trimless fitting they generally want it to literally disappear – therefore the smaller the better. The clever thing is that even though the fitting is smaller the NYX still have directional / fixed or waterproof versions. They have all the advantages of a smaller fitting without compromise.”
Globe options for the NYX Trimless Downlight include integrated chip on board technology with an impressive 1100lm package, or retrofit globes up to the large diameter AR111 LED, and Metal Halide globe option with professional optics. All fittings, other than Metal Halide, are dimmable.
The light comes in white, black or mocha and the bespoke department at Gineico can offer gold and other custom colours to suit specific requirements. “Designers are inherently creative people so why limit them to choose between white or black and grey colours? I feel in some applications contrast colours are really hot while in some applications, painting a fitting to match the wall colour or other detailing can really be the perfect finishing touch,” says Pierluigi. “Obviously all this comes at a cost but if the budget allows it why not? Gineico are not your typical old school lighting supplier. We want to help designers be creative.”
All versions of the NYX Trimless Downlight have the signature minimalistic detailing that is central to the Lucifero’s range. Lucifero’s designers have worked hard to integrate clever design details that make the NYX Trimless Downlight easier and faster to install. The light has a IP54 waterproof rating on the non-directional versions. “The NYX range is suitable for all areas of the house and because the fixed version is available in an IP54 (waterproof version) the NYX range can also be used in bathrooms (and other wet areas) as well as outside,” Pierluigi explains.
“Clearly the features of the NYX Trimless Downlight, and the trademark aggressive pricing from Gineico Interiors is the reason behind why dozens of the leading design offices across Australia have already switched to the NYX as the standard trimless downlight.”
