Iconic design company Kartell has released an all new Kartell in Tavola collection.
July 1st, 2015
The original Kartell in Tavola collection was first launched in the 1970s, catching eyes with its innovative and imaginative colourful designs. This range was as experimental in form as it was beautiful in practice.
In 2015, the iconic design company is adding a brand new collection to the Kartell in Tavola range, through collaboration with a series of world-renowned chefs and designers. The result, available exclusively through Space Furniture in Australia, is a range of sophisticated yet practical pieces for the table.
The invitation to chefs was based on a mutual respect for commitment to perfection. Chef Davide Oldani’s flawless approach is embodied in the ‘I.D.Ish by D’O’, a line of dishes made in bone white coloured melamine. The collection includes a classic dinner dish as well as the ‘Oldani’ soup plate with a striking asymmetrical slant, along with water and wine glasses, a carafe and a set of cutlery which will released at a later date.
Designer Patricia Urquiola’s ‘Jellies family’ is an articulated line of plates, trays, glasses, bowls and carafes made of vibrantly coloured and transparent injection-moulded polycarbonate. The charm of the range is exemplified through each piece’s different pattern, which reference memories of Urquiola’s youth.
“Jellies are a three-dimensional coloured world for the table,” says Urquiola. “The touch and sight bring cut crystal to mind. They live outdoors and play with light refractions.”
In his first collection for Kartell, designer Jean-Marie Massaud has designed the ‘Namaste’ set of melamine dishes. Features a soft, asymmetrical design suggestive of flat stones, the dishes’ natural palette of black, grey, beige and orange enable the plates to stand alone, be matched or contrasted.
These new additions to the Kartell in Tavola collection represent another opportunity for designers and chefs to express their creative imaginations. The range is exclusively available at Space Furniture’s Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane showrooms, along with Kartell’s Sydney flagship store, and through the online store at spacefurniture.com.au
