The City of Sydney is currently conducting a trial of LED (Light Emitting Diode) street lights in George Street for both vehicular road lighting and pedestrian areas. The RFL540 LED Streetlight from WE-EF LIGHTING is being used in this trial because of its flexible dimming capabilities & energy efficiencies.
The City of Sydney installation demonstrates two levels of lighting; one which reflects standard street lighting (half power) and a second which allows for doubling of light levels for use at special events or emergency needs (full power). The benefit that the electronics brings is the ability for the City to deliver light levels where and when they are needed instead of having to compromise with over lit spaces designed for every eventuality.
LED has a service life of 10-15 years, delivering extraordinary maintenance benefits, delivering constant and varied light output with potential for enormous savings. With this in mind, LED and smart electronics will become part and parcel of the future of outdoor lighting. The technology WE-EF brings to the market are going to play a big part of this future.
