Silent Gliss in conjunction with Donovan Hill & Wilson Architects for the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane

The Vertical Wave “Annika” System was selected over the other Vertical Wave designs “Maria” & “Andrea” as its blade design is so unique. The Silhouette formed by the overlap is pure Silent Gliss.
Although Vertical systems have been considered by some out dated, it can always be argued that the original design was a very practical shading solution.
With the redesign of the blades, the Vertical system has been given a new life. The ability of this system allows the client varying light control by rotating the blades and can be sacked back into a relatively small spaces.
The stairwell was an adaptation of the system that reduced the sense of how high you actually are above the ground.
Silent Gliss is a Swiss Company and has been Innovating the Window Furnishings industry since 1952. Even in tough economical environments they are still investing, through research and development, in new design that allows architects more scope.
The introduction of new systems such as the Vertical Wave, Multiple Track Systems and bendable Panel Glides are also being used as room dividers. This adds another dimension to Interior Design, (not just offering solutions for glazing) therefore enhancing architectural design options and taking it to another level.
