Dixon, Hayon, Smith – Bolon’s list of collaborators is a who’s who of international design.
July 26th, 2011
Design excellence is all about collaboration and engagement, working together to create products that look good and work for the greater good.
Nowhere is this better seen than in Bolon’s collaborations with some of the world’s top designers. We recently wrote about their work with the Campana Brothers to create a stunning mosaic for the Stockholm design fair – you can see the behind-the-scenes of the making of the Artisan collection here.
Bolon also count Spanish designer Jaime Hayon among their designer friends. When invited to Interieur 2008 as Guest of Honour, Hayon chose to create an exhibition from Bolon flooring.
“I chose Bolon because it is a great material and went beautifully with our exhibition concept,” said Hayon of his ambitious project, which used Anthracite flooring and showcased his entire career.
Leading UK designer Tom Dixon chose to use Bolon flooring in his prize-winning Canteen restaurant and associated VIP lounge.
“I first came across the product through the 100% Design show when we were looking for products for the VIP room that were hard wearing but glamorous – a difficult combination,” Dixon said.
Choosing Bronze from the Now collection let Dixon perfectly complement the VIP lounge’s interior.
“We use a lot of metallic and were looking for a floor covering that was going to work with this. So we were very happy when we found the Bolon metallic colours,” Dixon said.
Sir Paul Smith, Guest of Honour at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2010, used flooring from Bolon when designing his special stand for the occasion.
“I love all the different finishes and colours and hope I can incorporate it into my new projects around the world,” enthused Smith when asked about his choice of product.
Bolon products don’t just look good, however. Bolon recently received Level A Environmental Certification in Australia and New Zealand under the prestigious EcoSpecifier Global accreditation program, GreenTAG.
This means that choosing Bolon floorcoverings for a project allows designers to score 100% Green Star points – making Bolon products suitable for use in Green Star rated projects.
