Donald Holt is based in Melbourne, “despite the airport”, but this Aussie designer – head of HOLT.CLIFFORD/DESIGNERS – has graced the stage on some serious international projects.

Spanning corporate, institutional and civic developments, some of his large-scale projects include the new NATO headquarters in Belgium and the frequently acknowledged expansion of the New York Stock Exchange – both earning well-deserved awards, mounting his acclaim as a designer in the international market.

Looking after the completion of several residential projects in Melbourne, notably the design of artist Rosslynd Piggott’s new studio, Donald says smaller residential and artistic projects have allowed him to create a fertile ground of ideas to work off in future projects.

Fashioning a collection of furniture for Evans & Evans, released early 2007, and designing a table for Tomislav Nikolic’s exhibition at Yuill /Crowley Gallery in Sydney (opened in November) are two more recent projects adding richness to the designers colourful portfolio.
