Australian furniture component company Thinking Ergonomix are helping Marayke Jonkers realise her Paralympic dreams.

Australian company, Thinking Ergonomix have recently committed to supporting a Paralympic athlete on her road to the Beijing Games.

Marayke Jonkers became a paraplegic in a car accident at eight months old. Since then she has met all of life’s challenges head on and is now about to take on the world at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.

Jonkers will be swimming in the 150m Individual Medley on September 14. The swimmer has won over 70 Australian records in breaststroke, individual medley, freestyle and butterfly, training six days a week, 576 km per year.

Jonkers is a remarkable young woman with a promising career in Journalism. She is an inspirational speaker to young people and professionals alike and has recently completed her first book Careers for Graduates with Disability.

Thinking Ergonomix have helped Marayke to purchase vital equipment for training and competing as well as making a financial contribution to Sporting Dreams – helping others with physical disabilities to achieve their sporting goals.

Marayke is completing an online journal, tracing her journey to Beijing on the Thinking Ergonomix website. For more information visit their website and follow Marayke as she goes for Gold.

The Paralympics will run until September 17, 2008 and are being covered by the ABC’s various channels and online.
