There is a great deal of talking involved when designing interiors. Luckily, Genevieve Hromas and Nina Exarhos of Imperial Nesting are very good at it. When clients, style and personality combine, mouths start to motor.

With design spaces ranging from quirky and homely to minimalist and graphic, Imperial Nesting – born out of a serendipitous collaboration in college – are a young interior design and styling team with a very playful and engaging approach.

“We respond to each brief and location by first and foremost getting to know our client, understanding their needs, and then translating that information in a conceptual manner that is easily understood by all parties,” says Genevieve.

“We begin by contextually merging our large ideas using imagery that excites and generates discussion.  It involves lots of talking and consideration!”

Their original and engaging interiors include the striking George Skoufis Optometry, where a large ‘g’ becomes a typographical artwork, playing on the aesthetic white space, as well as eye charts and spectacles. Homely touches were added, giving the space a new sense of professionalism, which aim to make going to the optometrist anything but a chore.

Other spaces, such as the quirky, vintage and welcoming Naked Communications office and the sleek, modernist Three Drunk Monkeys studio, all have a sense of the ‘imperial’ touch – the small intricate details adding personality to the duo’s belief in the enjoyment of life and all its dramas.

Imperial Nesting also sell a little piece of their style on their online store, stocking lighting, tees and glassware.
