GAMplusFRATESI share the inspiration behind their designs
December 19th, 2007
Design partners Stine Gam, from Denmark, and Enrico Fratesi, from Italy, show their remarkable innovation through their acclaimed antropomorfo chairs.
The chairs combine a form that’s inspired from out-of-proportion children’s drawings and flavoured with material, colour and detail typical of the functional Scandinavian form.
Their award winning design, the Butterfly Lounge Sofa (pictured), gained first place at the Danish National Bank design competition, 2005. The sofa was a flexible piece of furniture that becomes a sculpture in the home. A butterfly symbols liberty and lightness and this meaning became the inspiration for the lounge sofa’s creation.
The four sofa wings which can be moved up and down, offer numerous functions to create the ambient to suit the owners need.
GAMplusFRATESI believe the union of their two cultures is the secret behind their successful designs. The inspiration drawn from the blending of their rich cultures as well as simple everyday gestures mark each idea and project.
