The coveted Laminex Award for Design Excellence was presented to Brooking Design Practice for their contemporary West-End Fremantle loft [pictured]. The prize is a $5000 travelling scholarship.
The judging panel of design professionals were impressed by the project’s “clean juxtaposition between the original structure and the insertion of new contemporary internal spaces”.
Other notable designs winning Awards of Merit include Live Headquarters, Subiaco (Brooking Design) Champagne Lounge interior (Marshall Kusinski Design) [pictured below] and BaoBag Brand Identity (Luminosity).
The DIA WA Awards, established in 2002, are the State’s only multi-disciplinary design program recognising excellence and innovation in design. They continue to attract a high calibre of entries in three categories – Interior Spaces, Product Design and Visual Communication.
An exhibition of all entries will be on display in the QV1 Foyer, 250 St George’s Terrace, Perth, until September 12, 2008.
