Fun, friends and furniture fire up Fitzroy/Collingwood

Fitzroy Collingwood was the pocket rocket of SiD 2010: 4 exhibitors packing a whole lotta punch!

There weren’t too many exhibitors in this smallest of the four precincts, but what they lacked in numbers they made up for with a fantastic show.

Saturday kicked off at 10am (apparently a little early for some Melbournians) with the Meet the Editors event kindly put on by Tait and ISM Objects in Tait’s warehouse and workshop on Easey Street (we know, what a great name for a street, right?). The editorial team from Indesign Media took the opportunity to meet some keen designers and others interested in our publications.

However, we were feeling a little upstaged by the beautiful furniture on show from Tait, including Adam Goodrum’s new Sun-liner and Air-liner – not to mention the amazing string installation by studio one8one7 for The Project. ISM Objects’ packing crate installation was the perfect way to show their lights in action.

Over on Smith Street the Fitzroy Design Studio (CSR) had their experts on hand to talk through their range of innovative building products – from Wunderlich, Monier, PGH Bricks, Gyprock, Bradmans, Viridian, Cemintel, Hebel and Signature Stone – while their installation for The Project with the creative team at Piranha Design captured the natural elements to display their different tile products – and served coffee and cakes (including some great mini jam doughnuts!).

Down on Rupert Street, Cosh Living did what they do best, inviting guest to enjoy some outdoor entertainment with the launch of the new X Series outdoor kitchen, while the outdoor fire roared.

If you started your day in Fitzroy, your next stop was most probably Flinders Lane/CBD, that’s right… time to ‘walk the lane’.
