The Project - Over to You

At this year's Saturday in Design, we're taking The Project to a new level, letting you choose the theme for the biggest, most imaginative and inventive installations the design event has ever seen.

Saturday in Design turns 10 this year, and double digits means we're turning things up a few notches for the biggest design celebration yet.

Following the amazing response we've had to The Project, which was introduced to Saturday in Design in 2008 and is now a major drawcard of the event, we're turning the brief over to you.

InterfaceFLOR 2011, and above, 2010

Stylecraft, 2010

In previous years, the theme of The Project has been a single keyword - 'Sense' in 2009; 'Motion' in 2010, and 'Element' in 2011. For this year's Melbourne event in August, we asked 5 Australian design firms to each come up with a concept for The Project that will develop and grow the collaborations even further.

Tappeti, Viabizzuno, Envoy, 2011

Tait, 2010

The 5 proposed concepts are listed below. Which idea would you most like to see represented across showrooms on the day? Which would you most like to take part in yourself? Place your vote in our online poll, above right on the Indesignlive sidebar.

1. A CELEBRATION of Australian design (past, present and future); a celebration of design as both commodity and service; and, of course, a celebration of 10 years of Saturday in Design.

2. CRAFTED: Hand craft today seems increasingly lost against mass production, but is it really? How much do we still use our hands to create?

3. BEYOND 2012: Design the next decade.

4. 10

5. ACTIVATE environments, create the fourth dimension. Bring forms and spaces to life. Take action. Revive, invigorate, awaken.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we reveal the winning concept.
