Editor of Indesign, Mandi Keighran, presented the five awards at the VIP cocktail event on Saturday night. The quality of the entries received was high and the judges – comprising a panel of key industry figures – had some tough decisions to make.

Two Ton Max, North Melbourne
The Indesign Commercial Product Award went to the ’Capisco Puls’ task chair by HAG, distributed by DAL + Brands. The chair won for its successful mix of playfulness and ergonomic functionality, and the way it updates an existing product for the future.

DQ Award Winners – Tait
The DQ Award for Best Australian Product Launch went to ’Volley’ by Adam Goodrum for Tait. The Volley collection includes a chair, lounger, rocker, tables, barstool, and bar table, all constructed from steel rod and mesh and finished with a rope handle. It won for the collaboration between designer and manufacturer, and for introducing something a little bit different to the outdoor furniture market.
The Habitus Award for Best Residential Product Launch went to Cosh Living for Indu+. The innovative barbecue won for its good looks, extensive range, and customisable finishes, which make it suitable for a variety of environments and price points. Our judges were excited by the use of new technology in the induction systems, and the new possibilities this presents for the traditional Australian barbecue.

Saturday in Design Award Winner – Make It Precinct
The Saturday in Design Award for Best Showroom Experience went to the Make It precinct by How We Create and Palamont. This temporary installation was a hub of activity on Friday and Saturday, and threw Australian design and manufacturing into the spotlight.

The Project Award Winner – Geyer collaborating with Viabizzuno on Woodheads theme of ’Activate’
The Project Award for Best Collaboration was awarded to Geyer and Viabizzuno. Their installation was an elegant solution to showcasing Viabizzuno’s products, and the sophisticated finish and design was reflected in the products on display.
The Saturday in Design Awards celebrated the creativity and commitment of on-day exhibitors at the event. The awards were designed to champion forward-thinkers in Australian design, and the winning exhibitors reflect the best in-showroom experiences and product launches of the event. With such a successful inaugural event, we are looking forward to seeing the entries for next year’s awards in Sydney.
