To celebrate the innovative designers of retail projects nationwide, the Retail Design Awards 2010 held their inaugural Design Awards.

Guest Speaker Amanda Henderson of Gloss Creative, responsible for the newly-refurbished Circa at the Prince which hosted the awards, offered her reflections on design and its value in the marketplace.
The judges consisted of a mix of both business and design professions – Abigail Pugh (AMP), Claudia Lam (Stocklands), Andrew Falson (GTP), Robyn Lindsay (Geyer Design), Deborah Pool (Westfield) and Sara Brims (Colonial First State).

The award for first place and outstanding design went to Ryan Russell for his work on Australian cosmetics brand Aesop at Westfield Doncaster (pictured above).
Ryan Russell is no stranger to award winning, already boasting a handful of accolades to his name, from National Interior Design Awards to Idea Awards for retail design collected over the past three years.

Other winners in equal second place were Sportsgirl (pictured below), for Sportsgirl Bourke Street Mall, and Luke Shannon from Studio Ginger, for Wittner Shoes at Chadstone Shopping Centre.

Joint third place went to Angela Laton from Arkhefield for Urbane and Michael Bankes from DEA for Jaspar Coffee at Chadstone Shopping Centre.
