Tetsuya Wakuda and Alex Perry at Electrolux for Saturday in Design 09.
July 28th, 2009
For Saturday in Design the Electrolux showroom will have be offering a little fashion and a little food with Testsuya Wakuda and Alex Perry. We took a moment to ask these two stars of the kitchen and catwalk about their involvement in the day.
What is the relationship between food and design for you?
I believe that cooking has a strong association with design. Good design makes cooking easier & gives consistent results.
What will you be doing at Electrolux for Saturday in Design?
I will be hosting some induction cooking demonstrations at the Electrolux Showcase. On the day, visitors at the Electrolux Showcase between 12:30pm-2:30pm will be able to watch the demonstrations, taste the food prepared and ask me questions.
Could you explain your relationship with Electrolux?
My restaurant has been using Electrolux kitchen appliances for more than 20 years. We have collaborated on various projects over the years and currently, the team at Electrolux are assisting with the re-design of my restaurant & test kitchens.
What do you hope people will take away from your demonstrations at Saturday in Design?
My hope is that people will learn that cooking can be fun & easy with the help of Electrolux induction cooking.
Could you please explain your role with Electrolux?
I’ve been an Electrolux brand partner since 2007, working with the Electrolux design team to test and trial their fabric care products. Often embellished with sequins, feathers, tulle, lace and intricate fabrics, most people would faint at the prospect of throwing one of my dresses into the tumble dryer. Electrolux however has made the care of delicate garments easy and I am proud to be associated with their innovative products.
What will you be presenting at Saturday in Design?
At Saturday in Design I’ll be talking about some of the latest runway design trends that cross over into home interiors as well as my new residential design project that I’m currently working on. I’ll also be able to discuss my association with Electrolux fabric care and the results of my road tests with the Electrolux Iron Aid Dryer.
As a designer, what do you hope to get from Saturday in Design?
I’m really looking forward to meeting great design minds and sharing ideas.
Can you tell us a little bit about you new residential design project?
I often say that someone’s garment and home are both extensions of their personality. With this in mind I want to merge both lifestyle and haute couture into the world of residential design. This project will have me penning the designs of tailored interiors in a range of apartment developments across Australia. The first development will be launching to the public later next year …it’s very exciting and long overdue.
