Designer Sushi at Metalab
Challenging Sydney creatives to think outside the sushi box.
Sydney Design 2010 might have wrapped up for the year, but there is still a chance to catch one of the highlights of this year’s program.
Ideas are never in short supply at Surry Hills’ Metalab and the conception and execution of Designer Sushi was no exception to their ever-inspiring line-up.
The collaborative exhibition currently on display set designers, editors, bloggers, and even chefs, the challenge of creating a piece of work from a random array of items confined to a little plastic box.
A total of 18 creatives responded to the brief, among them Liane Rossler of Dinosaur Designs, Metalab’s own creative director and metal smith Cesar Cueva and Oscillate Wildly chef Karl Firla.
Here are a few of the eceletic boxes and the designs that resulted.
