The people have spoken! The winner of this year’s Project People’s Choice Award is the collaboration for Tappeti, Viabizzuno and Envoy between HASSELL and UNSW.
September 30th, 2011
Every year after Saturday in Design we give SiD visitors the chance to vote for their favourite installation as part of The Project. With so much talent and variety on show, it’s hard to pick a winner. This year especially, designers and exhibitors really pulled out all the stops to create eclectic, moving and inspiring temporary pieces that showed products and showrooms in an all-new light.
We’re excited to announce that the favourite Project installation amongst Indesignlive readers and SiD visitors is the stunning foliage created for Tappeti, Viabizzuno and Envoy by HASSELL’s Bradhly Le, Joel Sampson and Nasim Eshraghi in collaboration with UNSW interior architecture students.
8 Yellow Pages and many, many painstaking hours in the making, the intricate design stretched up 3 flights of stairs to cover the showrooms in creeping paper leaves, bringing the 3 companies together through the shared motif.
Inspired by the concept of upcycling, the team also “needed to find something that was going to work and something that [they] could get without having to pay for it,” explained Le of the choice of material for the installation.
The Yellow Pages was chosen, creating new life and use out of an object that is normally discarded and left to waste.
Congratulations to everyone involved in creating this beautiful work. Don’t forget – if you placed a vote in the Project People’s Choice Award, you’re in the running for some awesome design-related prizes from Workshopped. Stay tuned for the prizewinners’ announcement!
