While we continue to bring our readers the stories shaping the design scene in Australia and around the world, we are now also well poised to offer you more wide-reaching coverage across the Asian region with the launch of Indesignlive.asia!

We kickstart our monthly Indesignlive.asia report with Singapore’s new green mall, JCube. Designed by RSP Architects, the upcoming retail project was one of 45 recent recipients of the BCA Platinum Green Mark, an award given out in the country to building projects that incorporate excellent, internationally recognised sustainability practices.

Singapore and China have also just inked a milestone agreement to boost design ties, while in South Korea, the ambitious 10-year Songdo IBD project – a sustainable city built entirely on reclaimed land – looks to be right on track with the opening of the First World Towers and progress in the expansion of its convention centre.

In Hong Kong, we speak with 2 leading names in design who have each launched new books! Andre Fu documents 12 standout projects in A Bespoke Journey, while Michael Young’s new monograph, Works in China, was launched as part of the designer’s seminal exhibition of iconic and one-off works.

Hong Kong will also be the location for REACH, Herman Miller’s first exhibition in Asia. Starting in September, expect a stellar line-up of programmes including a travelling Eames showcase and the biggest Aeron hockey tournament involving 10 countries from the region.

The multidisciplinary Singapore collective :phunk will also be working with Herman Miller on REACH. We look at how this talented group of 4 has successful managed to merge art and design – with examples of their newest works.
