TRACE Comes Home

Fresh from presenting her work at Melbourne’s Pin-up Project Space, Christina Waterson is bringing her solo exhibition TRACE to her hometown of Brisbane.

TRACE Comes Home

Firstly, what has the response been to your exhibition at the Pin-Up project space?

The feedback has been tremendous, especially the response to the new works Scale Screen, Soft Cell and Tracelet.

It’s also interesting how much people love my very old studies made from 1996 through to 2001, including Near Far and The Ocular Series.

My experience through the Winston Churchill Fellowship made me revalue these old works and share them for the first time at Pin-Up Project Space.

They are very special and personal and show the sensitivity of my approach.

Why have you decided to bring TRACE to Brisbane?

No decision involved. I am based in Brisbane. I felt bringing TRACE home for Brisbane Indesign was as natural as breathing.

What excites you about the Queensland art and design scene?

The openness, the conversations, the support and that the best is yet to come!

What are your plans during Brisbane Indesign?

In true tracepattern.wordpress.com style I am openly and honestly laying my process bare for all Brisbane Indesign visitors to share and enjoy.

TRACE Brisbane will be different to the Melbourne edition of the exhibition. It will include prototypes as well as finished products previously unseen. I will be ’in-residence’ from Brisbane Indesign until early June.

In even more exciting news – the very first collaboration between Palamont: Art in Manufacturing, How We Create and I will feature as part of TRACE at Brisbane Indesign.

We have produced a very special gift entitled Tracelet, in limited edition colours. The first 300 guests to come and say ’hello’ will receive Tracelet!

I am so excited about what we have planned. I can not wait to share it!
