Colour
In terms of tiles there was (as last year) a lot of natural looking options, so it was refreshing to see some companies be bold with colour. Atlas Concorde presented their new ’Magnifique’ range featuring what we’ve dubbed the colour of the year… Teal! Along with a bright fuchsia and a range of more subdued tones.
Also upping the colour stakes, Kaldewei are offering Conoflat Coordinated Colours in their Design Plus Material Vision collection, with a range of shower bases and matching floor waste colours.
Leather
New materials are making their way into the bathroom. Typically, a host of manufactured resins, but some old favourites such as leather, can now also be seen in accessories. Colombo’s ’Black & White’ line has expanded to include a soap dispenser, soap and glass holder, wall shelf and trays.
Water Dispensing
We’ve seen instant boiling water units for many years in Australia from companies like Zip and Billi. This year, manufacturer Dornbracht presented Hot and Hot and Cold Water Dispensers units, delivering near-boiling water instantly at 93 degrees Celsius. The system, comprising fitting, water filter and hot water tank, are available for Dornbracht kitchen fittings series Tara Classic, Elio and Meta.02.
Covering Up
It’s a bit of a new concept, but space saving is always big so expect to see this in apartments in the future. Duravit have offered universal bath covers in the form of padded elements which are placed on the rim of the tub to create a surface to sit, lie, or place items on – each panel capable of bearing 150kg load. So now you can relax on – as well as in – the tub.
Roll Up
Nendo designs are always thought-provoking and their range of basins for Flaminia are no exception. With a snail shell form the ’Roll’ series of washbasins are now also available in round and oval semi-recessed versions.
