In this latest collaboration with Designer Rugs, Akira has named his collection HIRAMEKI, meaning ’Inspiration’ – a series that directly reference his current catwalk collections. Exploring the juxtaposition between his traditional Japanese heritage and the celebration of Australia’s love of colour, translating into some exquisite pieces.
The innovation and beauty demonstrated in his previous Designer Rug collections has been amplified with the introduction of bamboo as a renewable material in the Ayame and Shibori designs. The beauty of the
New Zealand wool rugs is complemented with the more durable, resilient and environmentally sustainable attributes of bamboo.
