Pendant or standing lamp, hewn from one single piece of wood
April 2nd, 2013
The Blasted KL1 Pendant light was inspired by Kai Linke wondering what a flying branch would look like if it could be paused.
Linke sought to make as clean and simple a shape as possible. He achieved this by cutting its body completely out of one single piece of wood – no cutting or gluing pieces together.
The dynamic surface of the wood is given by its glass-blasted treatment, from which the lamp takes its name.
The Blasted KL1 light comes in natural timber or black, and functions equally well as a standing lamp.
Its hanging wooden asymmetry conveys perfectly Linke’s search for “unexpected gravity”, resulting in a mesmerising feature piece.
